You have a dental or medical practice and want to expand your reach in the 21st century. That’s great – and essential. But why have a blog? What benefits could your patients get from a post, you may wonder? The simple answer is a blog will allow you to now be on an even playing field in the new world of proving yourself. How so? Well, to begin with, an informative blog will allow you to showcase yourself as:
- A trusted authority on dental health (if a dentist); or an expert on non-invasive treatments for cosmetic enhancements (if a medical boutique).
- Having the latest technology in house or perhaps up-to-date on a new way of treatment
- Community-minded – you and your practice team give back to the community you live in.
- And really, so much more one can highlight for their practice.
Blogging is also vital for the simple reason that it is an opportunity to educate your patients and potential patients about procedures you offer and the benefits of those. A post is never a substitute as medical or dental advice, but it allows your patients to get their needed questions answered – and that is a direct free benefit to them that may just turn into a walk-in.
Blogging also is beneficial in that it allows patients to see your practice accomplishments “up-close”. How is that? Well, have you recently had a team member upgrade their skills? Brag about that! Get a new referral by word-of-mouth? Talk about it! Doing so allows your patient community to get to know your practice “personalities” and builds trust – this is priceless. It also allows Google to see you as an authority and this builds up your website recognition in search results (more on this later)!
Content is key to the above. If you blog consistently and produce quality content that provides value to your patients, you will see organic growth – it’s a given and seen time and time again.
We’d love to get your thoughts and experience with the above, please leave a comment and thanks for visiting!
